Beyza Çağatay Tekin is professor in the Department of International Relations at Galatasaray University, where she also serves as the Head of the Department and the Director of the research centre CREDE (Centre de Recherche et de Documentation sur l'Europe) dedicated to European studies.
She holds a PhD in Political Science and International Relations from Boğaziçi University and a PhD in Political Science from Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. She has been a visiting fellow at the York Centre for International and Security Studies in Toronto and the Centre for International Studies at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Beyza Ç. Tekin’s main research areas include European studies, international migration, international political economy, and identity, culture, and critical theories in International Relations. She is the author of Representations and Othering in Discourse: The Construction of Turkey in the EU Context (John Benjamins, Amsterdam, 2010), a book on the self/other nexus in international relations and the discursive construction of a collective European identity. Her research has been published in journals such as Mediterranean Politics, Discourse & Society, and Political Geography.
Since 2007, the Chair holder has been teaching courses on subjects related to the European Union at Galatasaray University at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. These courses include RI 337 Economics of the European Union, RI 428 European Integration: Challenges and Change, RI 804 The European Union From Past to Present, and RI 435 Issues of Identity and Culture in the European Union. Dr Tekin has also taught other undergraduate and postgraduate courses such as RI 313 International Migration, RI 641 International Migration and Refugees, RI 618 Critical Approaches in International Relations, RI 807 Globalisation and the World Economy and RI 310 Identity, Culture and Power.
Didem Danış is a sociologist whose teaching and research activities evolve around migration-related topics for the last twenty years. She is associate professor at Galatasaray University, Sociology Department.
She has published numerous articles in academic journals on Iraqi and Syrian refugees, with a focus on state's role, immigration and integration politics, as well as migrants’ local and transnational social networks. She edited five books in Turkish on borders, migration management, migrant integration and recently on the mobility of Turkish qualified migrants. She is the founder of the Association for Migration Research (GAR), which focuses on the production of critical knowledge on migratory processes.
As part of MIGOSUR, Dr. Danış will give lectures on migrant integration and social cohesion, as well as migration and refugee policies.
Graduated from the Public Administration Department of Marmara University and holding a PhD in economics from Strasbourg University, Selcan Serdaroğlu Polatay is an Associate Professor of International Relations at Galatasaray University.
Dr Serdaroğlu Polatay has also worked as a visiting research fellow at the IDDRI (Institut du Développement Durable et Relations Internationales) on the international governance of biodiversity. Her research interests focus on the implementation of sustainable development in emerging countries, Latin American politics and economics, international biodiversity governance, and cooperation issues in international trade. She has published on sustainable development governance, the international governance of biotechnology and biodiversity, trade wars, and environmental politics in peer-reviewed international and national journals and books.
As part of MIGOSUR, Dr. Serdaroğlu Polatay will give lectures on sustainable development, environmental policy, and climate change.
Menent Savaş Cazala graduated from the International Relations Department at Galatasaray University. She pursued her advanced studies, obtaining both master's and doctoral degrees at Paris 2 Panthéon-Assas University in France.
Currently, Dr Savaş Cazala serves as a faculty member in the International Relations Department at Galatasaray University and holds the position of Coordinator at the university's International Relations Office. Her areas of research and teaching expertise include conflict and peace studies, international security, and international relations theories.
As a member of the MIGOSUR team, Dr. Savaş Cazala will deliver lectures on Human Security and the Protection of Human Rights in the EU.
Esra Atuk has been the Erasmus Institutional Coordinator at Galatasaray University from 2016 to 2024 and managed the Erasmus projects in which the university participated.
A graduate of the French Department of Political and Administrative Sciences at Marmara University (Istanbul, Türkiye), she obtained her doctorate in Political Science from the Institut d'Études Politiques de Grenoble. She has been a lecturer in the Department of Political Science at Galatasaray University since 1994.
Esra specialises in the methodology of social science research. She has extensive experience in field research and conducting semi-structured interviews. For several years, she taught methodology courses to undergraduate students in the political science and international relations departments. Her research interests include nationalism and populism, methodology in social science, political parties, and election campaigns.
Dr Atuk will serve as the administrative manager of MIGOSUR. She will also give lectures on research methods and ethics in the social sciences.
