MIGOSUR Seminar by Ambassador (R) Mithat Rende - 6 December 2024
On Friday, 6 December 2024, Ambassador (R) Mithat Rende held a seminar entitled "EU-Türkiye Cooperation on Energy, Climate and Sustainable Development" as part of the MIGOSUR Jean Monnet Chair Course RI 459 "The European Union as a Global Actor for Sustainability and Resilience".
Ambassador (R) Mithat Rende, who has held prominent positions such as Türkiye's Ambassador to Qatar, Chief Negotiator on Climate Change, Member of the Turkish Atomic Energy Commission, Permanent Representative to the OECD and President of the OECD Executive Committee, focused his presentation on Türkiye's energy investments and EU-Türkiye cooperation in the energy sector.
The seminar offered valuable insights into key topics such as energy dependency, energy geopolitics, the role of energy policy in addressing climate change, green transformation, green energy initiatives, the European Green Deal, and the carbon border adjustment mechanism.
Ambassador Rende also shared detailed perspectives on major strategic projects, including the TANAP pipeline, the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, and the Southern Gas Corridor. Following the presentation, participants had the opportunity to engage in an insightful Q&A session.
